Synopsis: Goodreads:

Katherine and Michael meet at a New Year's Eve party. They're attracted to each other, they grow to love each other. And once they've decided their love is forever, they make love. It's the beginning of an intense and exclusive relationship, with a future all planned. Until Katherine's parents insist that she and Michael put their love to the test with a summer apart..."Forever" is written for an older age group than Judy Blume's other novels for children. It caused a storm of controversy when it was first published because of its explicit sexual content. It was a book ahead of its time - and remains, after thirty years in print, a teenage best-seller. America's No. 1 children's author has written some of the best books of our time about real-life issues - family stress and pressures, what happens when your parents divorce, the problems of growing up and sexual awakening, bereavement - with insight, sensitivity and honesty. The response of readers all around the world continues to make her one of the best-loved writers ever published.

My Review:

I really enjoyed this book, though it was a little different compared to the books I've been reading recently. Katherine was a character that I'm sure many teenage girls could relate to. The idea of believing as though you've been in love before, yet not really knowing what it is, is something many girls go through. It isn't bad, it isn't unnatural; it's common

I don't know what I expected when I was sent Forever in the post, I was sure it was written years ago? I was used to receiving books that were written recently or just published... So this was weird. But I suppose as my English Teacher, any book that stands the test of time - no matter how small - can be considered a classic in it's own right. So I was more than happy to read this book anyway.

Katherine (as I said before) is a teenager that is going through what a lot of teenage girls (and guys) go through also. Her first love. Her first time. Her first complication. Her first heartbreak. How many of us have actually experienced all of them? Point is, as teenagers you probably experienced them all! And you were probably just as clueless as Katherine was. No teenager, no matter how mature that teenager, really knows what they're getting themselves into when they find the person they love, when they lose their virginity, when they come across their first complication - abuse or an affair or any number of things - and no one can prepare themselves for their first heartbreak.

Katherine was a character with parents like any others, she was well thought out. I can see why even over 30 years on, Judy Blume is still a loved writer. When I first did my IMM a load of my older friends said 'I remember reading Forever when I was younger! I loved it!' - this just goes to show that Judy Blume was a great author, and those who read her books are fans and will most likely forever be fans

It was a great book and the first short book I'd read in a while. It was a little weird for me to read however, I was uncomfortable in a few of the chapters whenever 'Ralph' was mentioned. Not because of why he was mentioned, just because of the fact that he had a name made it uncomfortable for me...

I was reading this at a time when I was a very happy chappy, and therefore in my notes I wrote:

Rating: 5/5

I don't think I agree with this rating anymore. So:

Rating: 4/5

Hello everyone!

General update time!

Where the hell have I been? Argh. Good question. But one I hoped I wouldn't have to answer again. Honestly, I just haven't been reading. I've either been ill, or with Andy, or well studying? I'm still reading The Subtle Knife, I finished Forever and I am currently writing a review for it (it's taking longer than expected and I don't know why?) and I am hoping to finish The Subtle Knife soon as I have a long list of books that never seems to end that I have to read!!

I suppose I should also update you on some of the really good news in my life right now. As a sixth form student in her final year, I had to start applying to Universities. It has not been a fun ride, trying to get that stupid UCAS application form ready. However, I finished and I applied. I sent my application form off just over a week ago and received no offers for the first few days. Then I struck the gold! Thursday night I received an offer from the toughest uni I applied for... Then Friday I received a futher two offers from the universities that are right on my door step.
3 down. 2 to go!

I have also been helping my boyfriend with his NaNoWriMo - offering him support and reading it as he goes along, pointing out flaws and such because i'm a very critical girlfriend apparently... - and I was hoping that he might let me do a review of his novel once he finishes since he's not going to finish with just 50,000 words. I think he said it was going to be more along the lines of 65,000? I might be wrong. However, I would really like to put a review up here and I'll try and convince him to do some kind of guest post about the novel (maybe). I don't know if i'll succeed though!

Anyway! I must be off! Since I am supposed to be tidying the house right now... I would love to finish my Forever review this weekend, so I may ask to steal Andy's laptop when i'm over his to do so (since my laptop is old -.-). Anyway! Love y'all! I'll be back in a few days hopefully with some reviews up my sleeves!

~Tyler-Rose~

P.S: Books i've read so far this month, but will not be reviewing: The Bloody Chamber - The Bloody Chamber, The Courtship of Mr Lyon, The Tigers Bride, The Company of Wolves.

Octobers Overview!

That's the end of October! Not much happened in the month of October. I celebrated my 1 month anniversary with Andy, I went to University Open Days, I stayed at Andy's for three days, I went to London with Andy, I read three books... What? Three books? The aim was five? Damn. Well in my defence I did finish two school books? So does that count as five? Not until I cross them off on my list? Oh okay... I guess I'll have to do that soon then!
So here are the books I read in the month of October

So I only read three books this month that had nothing to do with school. In total, I read 5 books as we finished CCM and Rapture, but they don't count as we skipped chapters/poems so we could fit them in. So I guess they don't truly count. Which is a bummer. But I did read 3 books.
The book of the month really is no doubt Northern Lights. This is because I really enjoyed this book once I got a few chapters into it and really struggled to put the book down. Really enjoyed this book, I borrowed it from Andy, and i'm currently reading The Subtle Knife which he also kindly let me borrow.

So, that being said, Northern Lights is officially Octobers Book of the month!

Aim for November: 5 books MIN!
